Be Like Mary this Advent!

Think about who Mary continues to be for all ages.

Why does she have this continuity that reaches through time and space?

She is the New Eve. The Blessed Theotokos. The One who said "Yes" to God.

Mary's response would set in motion the salvation of the world in the Word incarnate, Jesus Christ. She is our Heavenly Mother and deserves praise this Advent season. Think on what she went through as a young teenage girl. Advent is about the coming of Christ in our lives.

Well, Christ had to be born and to a spotless woman, who herself was conceived without sin (Immaculate Conception). This Advent season we have three Marian feasts to help us anticipate the coming of Christ:

December 8, Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary

December 10, Our Lady of Loreto

December 12, Our Lady of Guadalupe

Jesus loved His Mother before He was even born. The Trinity was in existence at the very beginning of time. Mary shares in a distinction of humility toward God's will for us.

What will our Yes to God sound like? Will it be afraid or apprehensive? Will be accepting to the truth of God? Will it be joyful?

"Anyone who does not have Mary for his mother, does have God for his father."
